How many single women buy homes?

Single women homeowners

A report from the National Association of Realtors has some new and interesting data on women home buyers. In 2016,  17% of home buyers were single women while only 7% of homebuyers were single men. Given these percentages, single women bought almost one million homes in 2016. Single women buy homes at quite a fast pace.

From a previous NAR report from January of this year, 67% of homebuyers are married couples and 7% of homebuyers are unmarried couples. Women outpace men in homeownership overall by 10%, or, by over half a million homes.

Way to go, ladies!
