One thing I’m often asked is “How did you get into this?”

For as long as I can remember, I was interested big, impossible challenges that could change people’s lives for the better. Just because something hasn’t been done before doesn’t mean it can’t be done in the future, right?

I was also interested in things from many different fields, like, the ability of brain cells to re-grow (neural plasticity), the ability to build low cost, high resolution medical imaging for women’s health, and using the power of the internet to improve women’s health outcomes, just to name a few.

After a few big career wins, I had a bad mortgage experience and realized that there were many millions of people out there like me who had most of their net worth in their homes yet had very little control over the financial outcomes.

I got obsessed with home financing – Why is it so hard for people? Who controls it? Who benefits from our confusion? What’s the math behind it?

I gave up my 9-5 job and started a software company to make home financing truly transparent to home buyers and homeowners.

We made the first software for banks and non-profits to show clearly to home buyers and homeowners exactly what any types of mortgage is and does over time, and lets you compare it with any other, with absolutely no fine print, all fees included.

To this day, it’s the only software that has accomplished that. We won awards and were covered by press.

In 2016, I realized that through banks and non-profits, our tools would never fully reach the hands of the people who need it most. And do you know what else I learned?

That as homeowners, we have most of our net worth in our homes, yet we don’t have a way to really get in control of our asset – to know, down to the penny, what the effect of different choices we have are before we make them.

I started Homeownering in order to share insider knowledge and empower homeowners to make their homes the best investment that it can be. And, I’m sharing all of my secrets!
